Brit stars and A-listers who lost homes in LA wildfires – where they’ll move next

-

The L.A wildfires have devastated many Californians including Hollywood stars who have watched as the natural disaster has engulfed their homes and prized possessions.

The fire has ravaged buildings and led to 130,000 people being evacuated from their homes, with the death toll rising to 24.. Pacific Palisades is home to many A-listers and, and while no one deserves to watch their home burn, thankfully many of these big names at least have second and third properties waiting for them.

This comes as good news for the stars as neighbouring hotels and properties have seen sky-rocket prices amid the crisis, ensuring they have another place to recover and process the loss. These are some of the celebs who have homes in the affected areas and the places they might move to:

Robbie Williams and his wife Ayda Field were planning to put their lavish £51.6million LA estate up for sale in 2024, but the wildfires have put a stop to that. The couple and their children were forced to flee their LA residence and stay in a hotel. To add to the devastation, Ayda’s parents’ house is also feared to have gone up in the flames. The premiere of Robbie’s biopic Better Man has also been cancelled. The former Take That star shared that he also has houses in London and Switzerland so may move there for the time being.

British-Albanian pop sensation Dua Lipa is among the thousands who were forced to fleemong the thousands who were forced to flee from their homes as the fire spread. The pop star, who has headlined Glastonbury and recently got engaged to actor Callum Turner, shared a photo of the devastation. She wrote: “Sending my love to everyone going through this incredibly difficult time. Stay safe and take care of each other.” The singing sensation also has a home in West Hampstead, London, which she reportedly bought for £6.75m in 2020.

Mel Gibson, who won two Oscars for his work on Braveheart, lost his luxury pad in Malibu, California, during the devastating wildfires. Gibson told NewsNation: “When I got home, sure enough, it wasn’t there. It is obviously devastating, it’s emotional. I lived there for about 15 years so it was home to me. ” Gibson owns multiple homes around the world from Malibu to Australia.

Paris Hilton witnessed her beautifulbeachfront house in Malibu being destroyed in the fires live on TV. The hotel heiress and reality TV bought the property in 2021 for $8.4 million and had a staircase in the back that once led down to La Costa beach. The star has since stepped up to help families affected by the wildfires, by setting up an emergency fund with an initial personal donation of £82,000. Thankfully, it was not thought to be her main residence and as the granddaughter of Conrad Hilton, the founder of the Hilton Hotel chain, she won’t be stuck for somewhere to stay.

Sir Anthony Hopkins, 87, also lost his home in Pacific Palisades last week. Photos show the burnt remains of the classic colonial home, with little more than a charred fence standing as the only reminder of what was once a beautiful property. While it’s not known whether the award-winning actor has other homes, what we do know is that Anthony has had a run of bad luck when it comes to properties struck by fires. In November 2018, his home narrowly avoided the Woolsey fire, which destroyed his neighbour’s property and back in 2000 he lost his London home to a fire. Despite his bad luck, he shared a poignant message with fans.

John Goodman also lost his home to the Los Angeles fires. His Pacific Palisades property was right in the path of the blaze and the only thing that wasn’t burnt to the ground was his swimming pool. The iconic actor, famous for his leading roles in King Ralph and the Flintstones, also has a house in New Orleans, Louisiana, which he lives in with his wife Anna Beth Goodman.

The former Busted star, who shot to fame 20 years ago, worried fans when he posted a message on X telling fans he was evacuating because of the fires. As the fires moved closer to his property, James took to X to share a string of updates. Firstly, he wrote: “The fires on my street have been put out.” Then, later, he added: “Major explosion on the street wtf,” before finally adding: “Ok I’m evacuating”. The good news is that the Busted star reportedly has another house in New Polzeath in Cornwall and a residence in Spain. While losing your home is devastating, many of Hollywood’s affected have praised the emergency services for risking their lives.
