Mum shares ‘foolproof’ way to get more seats on plane – and it infuriates people

-

A parent has sparked outrage after revealing a sneaky way to upgrading her family’s time in the air. Long-haul journeys are especially hard, and unless you can magically convince little ones to go to sleep and stay in their seat – you’re going to be exhausted by the time the pilot lands. Sound familiar?

Luckily, TikTok star Jess Darrington (aka Where is Briggs) went viral after sharing her controversial way to bag an extra seat – allowing one of her kids to lay down and have a whole row of seats to themselves. The travel influencer, who has amassed a whopping 232,000 followers, warned that she only ‘sometimes’ uses the controversial hack – but says it works ‘beautifully’ on her last flight from Amsterdam to Salt Lake City, US.

Instead of paying for all of her family to sit next to each other, Jess purposely booked two aisle seats and two window seats on two consecutive rows. “No one booked the middle seats so we had two rows for ourselves for an 11 hour flight,” the content creator explained.

However, it didn’t take long for swathes of critics to infiltrate the comments section, with many slamming Jess over the travel hack. “I’d be the guy refusing to move from the middle just to prove a point,” one stubborn user fumed. Another agreed, commenting: “I purposely pick the middle seat because I know a family trying to pull one over then I get the aisle.”

A third added: “I honestly can’t stand when people do this and then expect me to move or switch seats,” while a fourth raged: “What is the plan if someone shows up and then doesn’t want to move? You could be putting a stranger between you and your child.” However, Jess hit back at the haters – arguing that she doesn’t use the hack all off the time but when she does, it works. “I’ve yet to meet anyone that wants to be stuck in the middle seat,” she added.

A fellow parent also took to the comments section after trying out the hack for themselves. “I’ve tried this twice and the middle row showed up both times,” they said. “I haven’t been on a plane in two years that didn’t have every seat taken and a huge standby list.”
