-

A 28-year-old woman from Nova Scotia is facing charges after an all-terrain vehicle crash resulted in the death of her infant daughter. Madisyn Elizabeth Parker has been charged with impaired operation of a conveyance causing death, dangerous operation of a conveyance causing death, and causing death by criminal negligence, according to RCMP.

Authorities stated that the driver’s blood alcohol concentration was more than double the legal limit at the time of the incident, which took place near the 1100 block of Forties Road in New Ross, N.S. The infant, who was four months old at the time, tragically passed away from injuries sustained in the crash on May 27, 2024.

Emergency responders were called to the scene of a Polaris side-by-side accident on a logging road, where two adults and two children were involved. Alongside the deceased infant, a second child sustained minor injuries. Both adults, including the driver from Forties and a 52-year-old man from New Ross, suffered serious injuries in the crash.

Parker has appeared in court and was released under certain conditions. She is set to appear in Bridgewater provincial court on July 2 for further proceedings regarding the case.
