Zakir’s Attempt to Grab Land by Burying Bodies on Others’ Property

-

Sheikh Zakir Hossain from Melandah, Jamalpur District, Bangladesh, once served as a warrant officer in the Air Force. During his tenure, he lost his job due to allegations of domestic violence, dowry harassment, and cheque fraud. Afterwards, he ventured into the legal profession.

Zakir has been accused of land grabbing, demolishing houses of innocent people, looting, abusing women, and filing false cases to harass others. Multiple reports on his activities have been published in various media outlets.

According to published reports in nationally reputed and popular dailies, Zakir and his gang vandalized the home of Abdur Rashid, looted valuables, and left women and children homeless. Those affected families now live under the open sky, enduring unimaginable hardships.

A shocking new allegation has emerged against Zakir Hossain. Reports suggest that he devised an audacious fraud scheme to grab land. Under cover of darkness, Zakir purchased dead bodies from poor families and buried them in others’ agricultural land—his sole intent being to claim others’ land.

Shah Nawaz, a victim, reported that Zakir buried a body on his property to claim it. Out of fear of Zakir and his gang, Shah Nawaz and his family have been unable to return home for two years. Similarly, Zakir attempted to grab land purchased by Abdur Rashid, a poor farmer, and his brother Rasool Mia, an auto-rickshaw driver, by burying bodies on the land. When the attempt failed, Zakir’s gang reportedly tried to kill Abdur Rashid by hacking Zakir’s and forcibly evicting his family from their home.

The displaced family has been living under the open sky since then. On the night of December 6, in the Munshi Nangla area, Zakir’s gang attacked again, leaving one person injured and Zakir hospitalized in Jamalpur Sadar Hospital.

Residents revealed that Zakir acted with impunity during the previous Awami League government due to his close ties with Shahjahan Khan. Using this connection, Zakir established a reign of terror in the area. Victims and locals have demanded Zakir Hossain’s immediate prosecution to restore peace in the area.
