“Violent Clash Injures 10 in Bangladesh BNP Campaign”

Ten individuals sustained injuries today in a confrontation believed to involve two factions of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) during election campaigning in Laksham upazila of Cumilla district. According to witnesses, the clash took place at approximately 11:00am when supporters of Samira Azim Dola, the daughter of former Member of Parliament Anwarul Azim, and backers of BNP-nominated candidate Abul Kalam confronted each other in Changaon village of Kandirpar area while engaging in campaign activities. A dispute erupted between the two groups, which rapidly turned into a pursuit and counter-pursuit, resulting in injuries to ten individuals, including Samira Azim Dola and BNP leader Abdur Rahman Badal. The injured were subsequently transported to the Laksham Upazila Health Complex for medical treatment. Nazneen Sultana, the officer-in-charge of Laksham Police Station, verified the incident, mentioning that law enforcement promptly intervened upon receiving the report, successfully containing the situation. The OC also noted that no formal complaint has been filed yet regarding the altercation.
