Police interrogated Tuhin’s father Abdul Basir, along with four others suspects

Police on Monday pressed charges against five people, including the father of the victim, in the sensational Tuhin murder case of Sunamganj.

Police filed the charge sheet on Monday in Judicial Magistrate Suvadip Pal’s court, accusing five including Tuhin’s father, uncles, and cousin.

In a press briefing held on Monday afternoon in the conference room of the superintendent of police (SP), SP Mizanur Rahman said Tuhin was brutally killed by several of his family members in order to frame their rivals.

Tuhin’s mother Monira Begum filed a case in this connection with Derai police station accusing unidentified people on October 15.

Police interrogated Tuhin’s father Abdul Basir, along with four other suspects.

Tuhin’s uncles Nasir, Julhas, Abdul Mosabbir, and cousin Shahriar confessed to being involved with the murder. Later, Nasir and Shahriar gave confessional statement in a Sunamganj court.

The five year old Tuhin’s mutilated body was found hanging from a tree near his house at Kejaura village of Derai upazila in Sunamganj in the early hours of October 14.

The murderers stabbed Tuhin, slit his throat, and mutilated his ears and private parts. The killers also left two knives jammed in his abdomen which were used to kill him.

According to previous reports, Tuhin’s father Basir had old rivalries with a number of people of the Kejaura village, including former UP member Anwar Hossain, Soleman and Salatul, over different issues. He decided to kill Tuhin to frame the rivals, and establish dominance in the area.
