Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi on Tuesday urged the owners to consider with sympathy the issue house rent of the industrial labourers in this unusual situation rendered by the deadly Covid-19 pandemic.

In a statement, he said the country’s export-oriented industries faced hurdles because of worldwide coronavirus pandemic, which also led the labourers of the sector into troubles, reports BSS.

“In this circumstance, I am requesting you (house owners) to be sympathetic towards the labourers and consider (waiving) their rent,” he said.

Tipu Munshi said, “Our sympathy could help them (labourers) overcome this hardship smoothly, and I believe it would encourage them to contribute more to our export sector in future.”
