The Team Phoenix Group, a technology organization based in Dhaka, has unveiled its upcoming launch of SecureNet BD. This initiative aims to bolster cybersecurity capabilities by establishing a Cybersecurity Centre of Excellence (CCoE) and a community-driven Security Operations Centre (SOC) or Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT).
In a recent press statement, it was revealed that the project, backed by a grant from the APNIC Foundation’s ISIF Asia Programme, is geared towards combatting the escalating cyber threat landscape amidst Bangladesh’s swift digital evolution. SecureNet BD is set to provide training to over 1,000 individuals nationwide, with a specific focus on ensuring that a minimum of 30 percent of the participants are women. Additionally, a Cyber Range will be set up to facilitate practical, hands-on training and research activities.
To nurture future cybersecurity leaders, a fellowship and mentorship program will be implemented. The community SOC/CSIRT component of SecureNet BD will lend support to universities, non-profit organizations, and local entities in identifying and responding to cyber incidents, as per the press release.
