Luciano Spalletti is optimistic about Juventus’s chances of making a comeback in the Serie A title race despite their current seventh-place position. The former Italy national team coach recently agreed to a short-term contract to lead the struggling side until the end of the season, following the dismissal of Igor Tudor due to an eight-match winless streak in all competitions.
With Juventus trailing league leaders Napoli by six points, Spalletti, who previously guided Napoli to their first Scudetto in 33 years, expressed confidence in the team’s potential for success. He emphasized the importance of aiming high and regaining ground in the title race, citing the remaining 29 games as ample opportunity for a turnaround.
Having swiftly returned to club management after his departure from the Italian national team post, Spalletti expressed excitement about the new role. He emphasized the club’s rich history and high expectations while highlighting his determination to elevate Juventus back to the top echelons of Italian football.
Despite Juventus’s slow start to the season, Spalletti set ambitious goals for the team, including a strong push for a Champions League qualification spot. He acknowledged the competitive landscape in Serie A and stressed the urgency of getting the team back on track.
Addressing concerns from Napoli fans about his move to Juventus, Spalletti reassured them of his continued respect and appreciation for the special relationship he shares with the Naples club. He emphasized the enduring bond he has with Napoli supporters, symbolized by a tattoo on his left arm commemorating their historic title win, and affirmed that his connections with the city would remain unchanged.
Spalletti is set to make his coaching debut for Juventus in a crucial match against Cremonese, currently positioned eighth in the league standings, on Saturday.
