Seeking warmth from fire, one more dies

The deceased, Rozina Begum, 31, of Badlipukur village of Mithapukur upazila, sustained 55% burn injuries on her body, and died after a week-long battle for  life, confirmed Dr MA Hamid Polash of the hospital

Yet another woman, trying to warm herself by a fire, has died at the Rangpur Medical College Hospital. 

She succumbed to burn injuries she accidentally received from the fire lit on the streets to stave off the cold.

The deceased, Rozina Begum, 31, of Badlipukur village of Mithapukur upazila, sustained 55% burn injuries on her body, and died after a week-long battle for  life, confirmed Dr MA Hamid Polash of the hospital.

The death toll from fire accidents now stands at three in the district.  

Currently, 29 such patients are being treated at the burn unit of RMCH. Of them, six are in critical condition.

Meanwhile, Rangpur Weather Office Assistant Meteorologist Mostafizur Rahman said the lowest temperature in the district was 9.4 degree Celsius till Saturday afternoon, and locals were able to bask in the sun after 10 consecutive days.
