In the third ODI between Bangladesh and West Indies at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, Soumya Sarkar and Saif Hassan impressed with their opening partnership.
The partnership concluded at 176 runs off 152 balls. Saif achieved a career-best score of 80 runs from 72 balls, showcasing six sixes and six fours before getting caught at long on by Roston Chase.
Soumya, who scored 91 runs from 86 balls with seven fours and four sixes, was also dismissed shortly after Saif, falling to Akeil Hosein just three overs later.
While their performance did not surpass the record set by Tamim Iqbal and Litton Das for the highest opening stand of 292 runs against Zimbabwe in Sylhet in March 2022, Soumya and Saif did break several records in the match.
