It is possible to create awareness among the people against the misdeeds in the society through art and culture, he says
President Md Abdul Hamid has urged the county’s cultural activists to create awareness among the people on different socio-cultural issues.
The head of the state made the call when a delegation of the Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote (BSJ) led by its President Tarana Halim paid a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban in Dhaka on Thursday evening, reports BSS.
“The art and culture is a key index of a nation’s development and progress . . . It is possible to create awareness among the people against the misdeeds, including irregularity, repression and torture in the society through art and culture,” he observed.
The president hoped that they (cultural personalities) would continue their campaign for building awareness on various social issues in the days to come.
During the meeting, the delegation of BSJ apprised the president of overall activities of the Bangabandhu Cultural Alliance, President’s Press Secretary Mohammad Joynal Abedin said.
The president was informed of the alliance’s various cultural activities — including street theater and issue-based drama, and also the role of BSJ in different democratic movements of the past.
Abdul Hamid lauded the activities of Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote, a pro-Awami League cultural alliance.
