Tony’s chocolate bars, with their eye-catching design, might be well-known for the massive logo emblazoned on the front, but it seems buyers are still mixed up about its actual name.
Despite gaining popularity in the UK for its commitment to sustainability and ethics, many have been mangling the Dutch brand’s moniker. One woman caused quite a stir on social media after sharing the chocolatier’s true name, and now you won’t be able to unsee it.
Grace Louise, under the username @grac31ouise on TikTok, questioned whether others had also been misreading the name, adding that her own misunderstanding made it clear we’re not all great at reading, as she isn’t the only one mispronouncing it.
In a moment of self-mockery, she titled her video “Well this is embarrassing” while unveiling the revelation. Astonished by the discovery, she posted: “Is it just us who thought it was called Tony’s Chocoloney?? or can we just not read”.
The enlightening video went viral, amassing over 3.1 million views, leaving everyone with the same lightbulb moment upon learning the correct pronunciation is Tony’s Chocolonely.
“I’m confused, it’s always been Tony’s Chocolonely,” one befuddled chocoholic posted online, while another chimed in: “I will still call it ‘Chocoloney’.” But some sweet-toothed fans are adamant the name has just recently been changed, with one insisting: “I think it’s a batch typo it IS Chocoloney.” Further adding to the confusion, a second fan stated: “I’m confused, it’s always been Tony’s Chocolonely.”
Another even joked: “I was just saying this the other day, I swear that it has always been Chocoloney.” Tony’s Chocolonely UK and IRE social media team couldn’t resist joining the fray, saying: “These comments are giving us life,” prompting Grace to retort: “Why can none of us read,” accompanied by a laughing emoji.
