Paul Danan, best known as Sol Patrick in Hollyoaks, has tragically passed away at the age of just 46.
Alongside his acting creds, Paul was also known for making hearts race on Celebrity Love Island in 2005 and 2006. Even without the help of the villa, however, the beloved actor had no problem finding dates with A-list women.
Paul previously revealed that he went on a date with Spice Girls icon Emma Bunton back in 1999, but it turned out to be a comedy of errors. Paul revealed that he left the Hollyoaks set in Liverpool to speed down to London in time to meet her for a Versace store party.
The actor also told The Sun that prior to the Versace date, they’d “had a little snog and swapped numbers” at The Met Bar, which used to be the place to be seen for celebs in the capital.
“It was a really big thing, as it was a proper date and she was taking me to the event. She introduced me to David and Victoria Beckham when we got there but Victoria was so rude. I stuck out my hand and she wouldn’t even shake it, she just looked at me,” Paul revealed of his meeting with Baby Spice’s bandmate.
The Celebrity Big Brother star added that David was “so nice,” but Posh Spice put a dampener on the evening. Things got even worse when Emma told Paul that they had to leave separately – so that she could leave with TV presenter Dani Behr.
Paul recalled chasing down Emma’s car after she left, while paparazzi chased her and the Beckhams down. He described: “I’m finally able to knock on this window and I’m like, ‘It’s me’. She opens the door to let me in and Dani and Emma are chatting. I ask, ‘Where are we going to drop Dani off?’. And Emma’s like, ‘No, no, no, no – we’re going to drop you off, Paul.’”
Before Paul’s disastrous date with Emma – which ended with her dropping him at a petrol station – Paul had a fling with model and Strictly Come Dancing star Kelly Brook, now 45. Back in 2020, he told Dapper Laughs on his Chatting B*****ds podcast that he and Kelly were an item when they were at drama school together.
He revealed: “I went to Italia Conti, and Kelly Brook was there. So I went out with her for about six months, probably longer. I used to bring her back to my house after college. She met my grandpa. She was amazing. My grandad walked in on us once. The bra was out!”
He added: “She was the young Cindy Crawford and everyone loved her, I felt so lucky. But we were on completely different wavelengths. I was a bit of a stoner, and she was into S Club 7. And I ended up finishing with her. So gutted.”
