New deputy commissioners (DCs) have been designated to 29 districts in the recent days as part of a reorganization in the field administration in anticipation of the upcoming national election. The Ministry of Public Administration issued notifications appointing new DCs to 14 districts, including Brahmanbaria, Jhenaidah, Narail, Jamalpur, Meherpur, Kishoreganj, Jhalakathi, Gopalganj, Chuadanga, Panchagarh, Joypurhat, Mymensingh, Manikganj, and Chandpur. Notably, the DC of Narail has been moved to Brahmanbaria, while the DC of Meherpur has been reassigned to Narail.
Additionally, on Sunday, the government also named new DCs for 15 other districts, namely Noakhali, Habiganj, Gazipur, Dhaka, Gaibandha, Barguna, Bogura, Sirajganj, Magura, Pirojpur, Satkhira, Bagerhat, Khulna, Kushtia, and Bhola. According to ministry officials, the majority of officers replaced in the recent appointments have been elevated to the rank of joint secretary, indicating that these transfers are part of regular administrative procedures.
