Netflix fans ‘stay up until 5am’ to binge new season of ‘guilty pleasure’ romcom

-

With January being the perfect time to curl up with a good boxset, Netflix has delivered with the return of one of its biggest romcoms – and fans couldn’t be more thrilled.

Netflix viewers have taken to X, formerly Twitter, to rave about the latest series of romcom drama XO, Kitty, with some fans even staying up until the early hours in the morning to binge the show. The show, which is a spin-off to Netflix’s hit To All the Boys films, stars Anna Cathcart as Kitty Covey – the American younger sister of Lara Jean who wins as scholarship to a school in Korea and moves out there after striking up a long-distance relationship with Korean student Dae.

With the second series arriving on Netflix this morning (Thursday), fans took to X to share their viewing plans. “Slept for 10 hours means I can stay up till 3am to watch XO Kitty,” one fan wrote on X. Meanwhile, another revealed that they had already watched the whole series even though it arrived on the streamer just hours before. “Finished XO Kitty season 2 already and it only came out less than two hours ago,” they said.

Another fan wrote: “XO Kitty s2 out this week omg my guilty pleasure straightbait romcom,” while a third viewer posted: “XO Kitty is out now??? OK I GUESS IT’S TIME TO BINGE WATCH.”

The new series picks up with Kitty after the dramatic events of series one, with the teen breaking up with boyfriend Dae (Minyeong Choi) and developing feelings for her new friend Yuri (Gia Kim) before being expelled from the Korean Independent School of Seoul. She says in the first few minutes of series two: “Dae and I broke up, I fell for Yuri and I got kicked out of KISS.”

Kitty manages to get back into the Seoul school ahead of the new semester and decides to explore her bisexuality and her newfound crush on Yuri – even though she already has a girlfriend. While many fans can’t wait to watch Kitty’s romantic journey in series two, many are convinced that she will ultimately end up with Min Ho (Sang Heon Lee), her ex Dae’s best friend.

“This is an endgame ship I’m so sorry for those that don’t get that! BUT I get that #xokitty,” one fan wrote alongside pictures of Kitty and Min Ho together. Another said: “They’re the only correct answer…”

XO, Kitty is now streaming on Netflix. Follow Mirror Celebs on TikTok, Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, YouTubeand Threads.
