The National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) has issued a call for the public to report any social media content that encourages terrorism or violence directly through WhatsApp and email. The announcement was made in a press release dated December 20, 2025.
As of December 20, individuals are now able to lodge complaints about posts that promote violence or pose threats to public safety by reaching out to the agency through specified communication channels. Citizens can inform the NCSA about any social media content advocating terrorism and violence by using a dedicated WhatsApp number: 01308332592. Additionally, they can also report such content via email at [email protected]
Explaining the reporting procedure, Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser at the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunication, and Information Technology, shared in a recent Facebook post that “The National Cyber Security Agency will notify the platforms through BTRC after conducting initial verification. It is important to note that the government does not have the authority to remove any social media content; it can only alert the relevant platform about posts linked to violence by providing valid justifications.”
Faiz Taiyeb further emphasized that hate speech directly encouraging violence or violent behavior is considered a punishable offense under the National Cyber Security Ordinance 2025.
