Investment, business operations, and personal decisions nationwide have paused in anticipation of the upcoming national election, as mentioned by BNP senior figure Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury. Khosru expressed that there is a collective yearning for change through the election, with many individuals deferring major choices until after the election. He voiced concern that certain entities are attempting to stall the election despite public eagerness to participate.
Highlighting the significance of upholding democratic principles, Khosru criticized those impeding the electoral process. He also addressed the issue of a proposed referendum, noting the constitutional constraints but indicating BNP’s willingness to consider a referendum on election day to promote unity and respect.
Emphasizing the party’s preparation for governance, Khosru outlined BNP’s groundwork in various sectors like administration and policing to swiftly enact reforms upon assuming power. He stressed the public’s high expectations for immediate improvements post-regime change and the necessity for proactive readiness to fulfill these hopes.
Furthermore, Khosru mentioned BNP’s longstanding advocacy for a bicameral legislature, a concept introduced in the Vision 2030 plan years ago and reiterated in the party’s reform agenda. He underscored BNP’s pioneering role in proposing the bicameral system and highlighted its increasing recognition in current discourse.
