“National Citizen Party Rep. Blames BNP for Election Violence”

-

The National Citizen Party’s representative, Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan, raised concerns about widespread violence following the recent election, pointing fingers at BNP supporters for their alleged involvement. Bhuiyan criticized the silence of BNP leaders regarding the reported incidents, suggesting that their previous actions were merely a facade to sway public opinion before the polls. Speaking at Ibn Sina Specialized Hospital after visiting victims of election-related clashes, Bhuiyan highlighted incidents of voter assaults, property damage, and theft occurring in various regions. He recounted a disturbing case where an individual was reportedly killed for supporting an independent candidate. Expressing disappointment over the lack of decisive actions to control party activists and address the violence, Bhuiyan called for clear directives and disciplinary measures from the BNP leadership. He emphasized the need for the BNP to publicly declare the steps it will take against any members responsible for the violent acts.
