The ten football teams who qualified for the final round of the Bangabandhu National Championship and more teams from the bygone round are set to participate in the Bangabandhu Bangladesh Games, the tournament’s Organizing Committee said after a meeting Sunday.

The final round of the National Championship is expected to be held in March with the ten teams -Cumilla, Netrokona, Cox’s Bazar, Pabna, Rangpur, Khulna, Satkhira, Sylhet, BKSP and Bangladesh Army- split into two groups.

“The first round was held in all districts except one, and those who could not qualify for the Cup round played the Plate championship. The ten Cup winners will play the Bangladesh Games. We are also trying to include more teams,” said Harunur Rashid, chairman of the tournament Organizing Committee.

Rashid also informed that the final round will be held at two separate venues, which will be decided after the draw on February 23. “The group round matches will take place at two venues outside the capital, where football is popular. Probable venues are Khulna, Jessore or Rajshahi.”

The 9th edition of Bangladesh Games will be held from April 1-10, featuring 31 disciplines. The BFF hopes to conclude the National Championship, taking place after 13 years, by the third week of March.
