Myanmar Nationals Remanded to Prison in Bangladesh

Five citizens of Myanmar who were apprehended while unlawfully entering Bangladesh via the Ghumdhum border in Naikhongchhari upazila have been remanded to prison by a court in Bandarban.

The individuals were presented before the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Amali Court at approximately midday, where Judge Fatema-Tuz-Zohra issued the ruling.

The detained individuals include Ko Ko Sain (35), Soe Thu Ra (38), Aung San Thu (25), Zaw Zayar Lin (32), and Min Min Oo (41).

The verification of this information was provided by Mizanur Rahman, an assistant sub-inspector at the Bandarban court police department.

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) captured the five individuals yesterday after they crossed into Bangladesh near pillar no. 42 in Ghumdhum union. Subsequently, they were transferred to Naikhongchhari Police Station.

Officer-in-Charge Md Majharul Islam of Naikhongchhari Police Station disclosed that a legal case has been initiated against them under Section 14 of the Foreigners Act, 1946, subsequent to the BGB’s handover.
