With a Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury reunion on the cards, their sneaky New Year’s Eve kiss has become a hot topic.
The 25-year-old influencer and her ex-fiancé, who met on Love Island on 2019, welcomed their daughter Bambi in 2023, with a gorgeous viral proposal leading to their engagement.
But behind the ITV stars’ public love story lay problems, resulting in a shock split in August last year. Fans were left blindsided by the parting of the popular couple but refuting rumours he had cheated, Tommy recently opened up about the real reason for their split
“The reason why me and Molly broke up was because I got addicted to alcohol and I couldn’t be the partner that I wanted to be anymore,” the boxer told Men’s Health Magazine. “It kills me to say it, [but] it’s true, I couldn’t. I loved a pint of beer, loved to drink, and it is what it is. People go through different things in life and we all have our crosses to bear. I’ve got mine to bear.”
Five months after their break-up, the pair headed to Manchester United star Luke Shaw’s Hogmanay party in Cheshire, where they were seen kissing on the stroke of midnight. A source told The Sun that Molly-Mae, a pal of Luke’s other half Anouska Santos, had made an eleventh hour decision to invite her ex.
“Molly-Mae decided to invite Tommy fairly last minute,” said the insider. “It was all very low-key. The pair were very flirty all night and it’s clear their physical attraction remains strong. They were all over each other as the compère counted down to midnight — it was very cute to see.”
Four days later, the pair are thought to have enjoyed a cinema date in Altrincham, Greater Manchester, where they watched horror film Nosferatu. According to The Sun, Tommy then appeared to stay the night at the Maebe founder’s home.
When Molly-Mae was asked about the kiss at a press event on Wednesday, she called the situation “complicated”, saying: “We are figuring it out as adults, as parents, we’re doing the best we can. Tommy and I, our relationship has always been in the public eye but to deal with this breakup, with millions of eyes watching, it is hard, it is complicated.”
The influencer will star in documentary Molly-Mae: Behind It All, which airs from tomorrow on Amazon Prime Video. “You see the real side to it,” said Molly-Mae in a Q&A about the programme. “It’s kind of like you’re a fly on the wall. And like I say, I think people are going to be quite, not shocked, but I think they’ll be quite surprised by how honest we’ve been.”
Speaking to the Mirror, a source said the relationship, which formed on reality TV, was slowly being reconciled. “Friends of Molly and Tommy have been confused by Molly implying she’s a full-time single mum, as she and Tommy have been spending more time together and are rekindling their once almighty romance,” they said.
