Police arrested a teenage  boy after the body of a schoolgirl, who remained missing for three days, was recovered from his house in the Goalpara area of the district town on Thursday night.

The deceased was identified as Sumona Haque, 9, a third grader of Thakurgaon Government Girls’ High School and daughter of Md Juwel of the Goalpara area.

On December 16, Sumona went to her neighbor Yasin Habib Kanon’s house to play and was missing since.

Her father then filed a General Diary with Thakurgaon Sadar Police Station in this regard.

After much investigation, police detained Yasin Habib’s son for interrogation on Thursday.

According to the teen’s statement, police recovered the girl’s body digging the floor of a bathroom that was under construction in Yasin Habib’s house.

The detainee reportedly confessed to police that he killed the girl after rape.
