Mikel Arteta’s dream Arsenal XI if he lands FOUR transfers during January window
The January transfer window is now open and Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal could potentially be very busy, particularly when it comes to their attacking options amid Bukayo Saka’s injury blow
Arsenal could spend millions this January under Mikel Arteta – and have a stunning starting XI by the end of the month.
The January transfer window is now open and the Gunners could potentially be busy. Arteta’s side are currently embroiled in a battle to win the Premier League.
A number of incomings throughout the next month could finally see them over the line – albeit they still have to reel in Liverpool in the process. One blow that has put them on the backfoot is Bukayo Saka’s injury. The Arsenal academy graduate has undergone surgery after a hamstring issue. That could well force the North London side into the market.
And a number of players have already been linked with the Gunners. Take a look at the unbelievable side they could field come February:
Let’s start right where Arsenal could spend the biggest cash – in attack. Saka’s absence could force them into signing a new right-winger.
Athletic Bilbao star Nico Williams has long been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium. And while Saka will likely be Arteta’s starting winger for the foreseeable future, Williams would be a perfect addition for now.
Staying up front, there could also be a new name on the opposite flank. Wolves star Matheus Cunha has been identified as an Arsenal target after his stunning start to the current campaign. And while he is more comfortable centrally, he would be a brilliant upgrade to compatriot Gabriel Martinelli.

On the topic of in-form Premier League strikers, the Gunners could choose to sign another for their central striker role. Alexander Isak already has 12 Premier League goals to his name so would be a stunning recruit but a potential £150m price tag could potentially prove a major stumbling block.
Moving into midfield and there could well be another addition. After signing Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad in the summer, Arsenal could potentially reopen talks with the Spanish side for the services of his former teammate Martin Zubimendi.
Reports earlier this year suggested that he was ‘ready’ to accept a move to the Emirates. But Arsenal could face competition from Premier League rivals Liverpool. Captain Martin Odegaard will remain in midfield despite links to other stars including Arda Guler.
In defence, it’s not expected that Arteta will choose to strengthen, but they practically have two new signings already at the Emirates. Riccardo Calafiori only arrived from Genoa in the summer and will be hopeful of forging a role for himself going forwards.
Meanwhile, Jurrien Timber is finally showing his true potential after seeing his debut campaign ruined by injury. He will likely be key alongside Gabriel, William Saliba and David Raya.
Arsenal potential XI: Raya; Calafiori, Gabriel, Saliba, Timber; Rice, Zubimendi, Odegaard; Williams, Cunha, Isak.
