BGB arrested two people with 1,600 US dollars from Jibannagar Upazila town early on Friday

RAB detains four robbers in Gazipur: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained four members of a robbery gang from Ershadnagar area in Gazipur city early on Friday. The arrested are: Rifat Hossain, 22, Kausar Hossain, 24, Sujan Miya, 30, and Arif Hossain, 22. Lt Comdr Abdullah Al Mamun of RAB-1 Porabari camp said acting on a tip-off they conducted a drive and detained the four while they were planning their next heist. The detained confessed to being active members of an inter-district robbing gang, added the RAB official. RAB siezed two knives and a machete from their possession.

$1600 siezed in Chuadanga: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained two people with 1,600 US dollars from Jibannagar Upazila town early on Friday. The arrested were identified as Mofizul Islam, 42, and Hafizul Islam, 48. They were handed over to Jibannagar police station and a case was filed in connection with the incident, confirmed Jibannagar police station OC Saiful Islam. BGB sources said acting on a tip-off BGB conducted a drive and detained them.

Drug dealer, four addicts arrested in Hili: Police arrested a drug dealer and four addicts in separate drives at Hili border area in Dinajpur early on Friday. The arrested are drug trader Rekad Hossain, 35, and addicts Erfan Ali, 30, Shahidul Islam, Siyam Sarker, 19, and Shakil Hossain, 21. Hakimpur police station OC Abdur Razzak Akand said acting on a tip-off police conducted a raid and made the arrests. Police siezed 18 bottles of phensedyl from Rekad’s possession. All of them were sent to Dinajpur jail through the court.

Minor’s body recovered in Thakurgaon: Police recovered the buried body of a missing eight-year-old girl from Sattyapur bridge area in Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila on Friday. The deceased Nupur was missing for two months until police found her body. Her family members said she went missing when she got out of the house to play one afternoon. Additional Superintendent of Police Abu Taher Md Abdullah said the reason for her murder could be known after an autopsy.

1,000 phensedyl bottles recovered in Sylhet: Police recovered 1,000 of phensedyl from a car in Amalshid area under Zakiganj police station on Thursday night. Police had been conducting a vehicle check in the area when a car was found parked nearby, the driver ran away seeing the police approach, according to a press release signed by Md Saiful Islam, assistant media officer of Sylhet district police. A case will be filed in this regard with Zakiganj police station under the narcotics control act.

1 held for spreading rumour over coronavirus: RAB arrested a young man for spreading rumour over coronavirus through Facebook in Khalishpur Upazila, Munshiganj on Thursday night. The arrested is Meraj Ali, 30. Tipped off, a team of RAB-6 conducted a drive in the area and arrested Meraj, according to a press release. Later, he was handed over to Khalishpur Police Station.

Woman sentenced to life imprisonment for drug dealing: A Rajshahi court sentenced a woman on Thursday to life imprisonment on charges of possessing 50 grams of heroin in the district. District and Session Judge Meer Shafiqul Alam handed down the verdict to Maleka Begum alias Piara Begum, 54, who was arrested around six and a half years back, reports BSS. The court also fined her Taka 20,000, and in default of payment, she is to serve three more months behind the bars.
