“Law Adviser Confirms February Election Timeline”

-

Law Adviser Asif Nazrul affirmed today that the government is committed to conducting the national election in the first half of February and expressed confidence in the upcoming polls. During his visit to the Legal Aid Office at the Rajshahi court premises, he addressed the media, noting that political parties often issue statements to exert pressure on each other or the authorities, with some concerns being valid.

Asif Nazrul emphasized that there are no indications of any delays or disturbances in the electoral process, stating unequivocally that there are no doubts or alternative scenarios being considered. He highlighted the belief of political parties in the electoral system and assured that the government is fully dedicated to ensuring transparency and fostering a celebratory atmosphere for the elections.

The law adviser underscored the significance of the forthcoming election, noting the prolonged absence of a proper national vote in the country for more than ten years. He highlighted the potential impact of this election, pointing out that a substantial portion of the population, particularly those in their early thirties, have never had the opportunity to participate in such a crucial democratic exercise, indicating the gravity of the situation.

Despite the upcoming election being a few months away, Asif Nazrul observed the widespread presence of campaign materials, reflecting the enthusiasm and anticipation among the populace. He expressed optimism and downplayed concerns about the election’s integrity, citing the visible excitement and engagement of the people as reassuring factors.

Earlier, as part of his inspection rounds, Asif Nazrul visited the Legal Aid Office following a recent visit to the Technical Training Centre (TTC). He highlighted the improvements in legal aid provisions, emphasizing the mandatory nature of legal assistance and the implementation of a system involving three judges to expedite case resolutions and reduce the backlog.
