Laundry hack will ‘dry clothes in 15 minutes’ without need for tumble dryer

-

During the colder months it can be almost impossible to dry your clothes without a tumble dryer – but this simple trick makes it a real breeze.

Not being able to dry laundry outside can leave your clothes smelling musty, but this technique promises to dry your wet clothes in just 15 minutes,

The “game changing” hack posted online by TikToker Tee @tee_diaz01 said there are just two tricks used. Firstly, she uses an old-school technique of “smacking” the wet clothes on the side of the bath, and then gets crafty and makes a DIY dryer from a range of household items – that you will most likely already have.

The woman uses a laundry basket with holes in it and hangs up some of her laundry on coat hangers inside the basket. Then, she encloses the basket in a large laundry bag, leaving a gap at the top.

Tee’s next step is to insert a hair dryer into the hole and give her washing a quick 15-minute blast of hot air to help it dry, which she claims is enough to ensure the clothes inside are completely dry. The woman noted the hack is particularly useful when you need an item of clothing urgently, as it should help it dry in no time.

Before you try out the hack yourself, however, you should ensure that your laundry basket is heat resistant, otherwise you could risk warping the plastic with the heat from the hairdryer, which could damage your clothes and potentially be a fire hazard.

Meanwhile, it was recently suggested by experts that adding one simple step to your laundry routine could help make your clothes dry faster. Home energy guru Andy Threlfall explained that by putting your clothes through an extra spin cycle in the washing machine, you can help wring out some of the excess moisture and make your laundry easier to dry on airers around your home.

He said: “It is essential to ventilate a room when drying laundry given the incredible volume of water vapour that is released into the home (around five litres). This will have the added benefit of not only helping your clothes dry faster because of increased air circulation, it will help stop your clothes from smelling damp. If possible, I would also recommend running your laundry through an additional spin cycle to ensure as much water as possible is spun out, especially for heavier items such as jeans, towels or hoodies.”
