TalkSPORT host Jim White has laid down a £100 bet on Nottingham Forest to win the league – but only at even odds.
Nuno Espirito Santo‘s side have been the surprise package in the Premier League this season, exceeding all expectations after flirting with relegation last year.
Forest currently sit second in the table behind Liverpool after playing out a 1-1 draw with the Reds on Tuesday night. And that result has fuelled talk that Forest could last the distance when it comes to the race for the Premier League crown.
Speaking in the aftermath of Forest’s draw with Liverpool, White talked up Forest’s title chances, only for Simon Jordan to urge him to put his money where his mouth was.
White said: “I think they have a very good chance of winning the league. I’m not Mystic Meg, so I can’t tell you now, ‘Yes, they’re going to win it.’ I think they have an excellent chance of winning the league title.”
Jordan then interjected bringing up the wager, saying to White and Danny Murphy: “We should make him put a wager on it. See how much his conviction, how deep his belief system is.
“I’ll have a bet that they won’t win the league and I’m prepared to back it up with cash.”
Jordan then said he’d put money Forest wouldn’t win the league, adding: “Even money. I’ll bet you a certain amount of money, and whoever gets the win, [the money] goes to a particular charity.”

Those odds are well below the 30-1 that’s on offer with most bookmakers for Forest to win the league. But White agreed to the wager when Jordan suggested they both put £100 on the table with the funds going to charity.
Social media users couldn’t believe the agreement, with one quickly pointing out White could get far more bang for his buck elsewhere. After sharing the clip, the poster said: “Blissfully unaware that 33-1 Forest is available with several bookmakers.”
Others were less concerned with White’s odds and more concerned with the fact that he genuinely fancied Forest to get the job done. One such user said: “They will be lucky to finish top 4.”
Later in the show, White sent Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis a rallying cry, quipping: “Mr Marinakis, if you’re listening this morning, I am risking 100 Scottish pounds!”
Forest, who also drew with Liverpool in their first meeting of the season, host basement club Southampton at the weekend as they bid to keep pace with the rest of the teams vying for the Premier League title.
