“Jamaat-e-Islami to Unveil Final Candidates for 13th Parliamentary Election”

-

Jamaat-e-Islami leader Shafiqur Rahman announced that his party will reveal the final list of candidates for the upcoming 13th parliamentary election at an appropriate time. He mentioned that while the opposition BNP has disclosed names for 237 constituencies, they are subject to change. Shafiqur shared that Jamaat-e-Islami had unveiled their candidate list in various forms regionally nearly a year ago and that the central committee will announce the final list when the time is right.

Emphasizing the importance of unity for the nation’s benefit, Shafiqur stated that their party will consider all aspects before making the announcement, as they will not be contesting the election alone and aim to accommodate others. He urged political parties to manage differences of opinion peacefully, highlighting the significance of maintaining harmony despite varying viewpoints in a democracy.

Shafiqur’s comments followed concerns raised by the interim government’s advisory council regarding disagreements among political parties regarding the July National Charter, a reform proposal. The council urged parties to engage in dialogue and present a unified guideline to the interim administration. Additionally, Shafiqur requested authorities to extend the voter registration deadline for expatriates by another 15 days.

Upon his return from a foreign trip, Shafiqur was welcomed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport by senior Jamaat leaders and party supporters.
