Inmate who had sex with jail guard ‘violently attacked’ with his baby suffering fractured skull

-

An inmate who went viral for having sex with a prison officer behind bars was reportedly violently attacked by a fellow lag whilst holding his three-month-old baby.

Linton Weirich was last year filmed romping married prison officer Linda De Sousa Abreu in an X-rated clip that was widely circulated online, sparking a police investigation. Weirich, who is currently serving a four-and-a-half year sentence for a £65,000 burglary, was reportedly set upon by a fellow inmate at HMP Swaleside – where he was moved to from HMP Wandsworth following the sex scandal.

Police and the South East Coast Ambulance Service attended the prison on December 18, where the victim had sustained head injuries and fell onto the tot, leaving her with a fractured skull. Officers say a suspect has been identified and an investigation is ongoing, although no arrests have yet been made.

A Prison Service spokesperson said: “Police are investigating an assault on a prisoner at HMP Swaleside on 18 December. It would be inappropriate to comment further while they investigate.” Kent Police said they were “investigating an allegation of assault at HMP Swaleside, which happened on 18 December 2024. It is reported a prisoner was punched by another inmate in an area used for visitors.

“The victim sustained head injuries and fell onto a three-month-old baby he had been holding. The baby suffered a fractured skull but has since been discharged from hospital. The suspect has been identified and an investigation is ongoing.” South East Coast Ambulance Service reportedly confirmed it attended an incident at the prison that day.

Weirich was being visited by his girlfriend and holding the three-month-old during the attack, which saw both Weirich and the infant rushed to hospital, a source claimed. The baby’s mum was also left in a state of distress after realising her child was “not responding” following the attack.

“It was awful for the baby’s mum to witness. To see her child not responding and knocked out is terrifying,” they told The Sun. “The family have been in total shock. They’re really stressed out and worried about the baby still.” Police were called to the Category B prison on December 18 and are investigating.

It comes just days after De Sousa Abreu, 30, was jailed for 15 months after pleading guilty to misconduct in a public office. In the shocking X-rated clip, the officer was seen clad in uniform, initially engaging in what appeared to be a sex act with the criminal.

She was then seen having sex with the prisoner while his cellmate filmed on a mobile phone in the Category B clink. The prisoner filming panned the camera around momentarily and, grinning, said: “This is how we roll in Wandsworth.”

In court, De Sousa Abreu was told she would serve half her time in custody and the rest on licence for the offence committed between June 26-28 last year. And sentencing her to 15 months this week, Judge Martin Edmunds KC told the mum: “From what I know about you, you were certainly not naïve about the media or social media.”

He continued: “It must have been obvious that the recording would be shown around and shared, at least amongst prisoners at Wandsworth where it would do the most harm. Whether you intended it or not, the fact is that the video went viral, and caused great harm. Many offenders do not intend the harm that their offending causes, but they nevertheless bear responsibility for it.

“You engaged in sexual activity with a prisoner. That compromised your role as an officer, and was misconduct which undermines discipline within the prison, and puts fellow officers at increased risk. You knew that conduct was forbidden and forbidden for good reason.”
