The ICC has announced the results of various Code of Conduct cases stemming from games played during the ICC Asia Cup 2025. The hearings were overseen by members of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees following incidents in the matches between India and Pakistan on September 14, 21, and 28.
On September 14, 2025, during the India vs. Pakistan match, Suryakumar Yadav from India was penalized for breaching Article 2.21 of the ICC Code of Conduct and was fined 30% of his match fee along with receiving two demerit points. Sahibzada Farhan and Haris Rauf from Pakistan were also found guilty of the same offense. Farhan received an official warning and one demerit point, while Rauf was fined 30% of his match fee and given two demerit points.
In the match on September 21, 2025, between India and Pakistan, Arshdeep Singh from India was found not guilty of an alleged breach of Article 2.6, and no penalty was imposed.
During the final match on September 28, 2025, between India and Pakistan, Jasprit Bumrah from India accepted a charge under Article 2.21 for conduct bringing the game into disrepute, resulting in an official warning and one demerit point. Haris Rauf from Pakistan was again found guilty of breaching Article 2.21, fined 30% of his match fee, and received two additional demerit points. Rauf’s cumulative demerit points reached four within 24 months, leading to a suspension for Pakistan’s ODI games against South Africa on November 4 and 6, 2025.
According to the ICC’s disciplinary framework, Level 1 breaches can lead to penalties ranging from an official reprimand to 50% of a player’s match fee and one or two demerit points. Accumulating four or more demerit points within 24 months results in suspension points. Two suspension points translate to a ban from one Test match or two ODIs or two T20Is, whichever occurs first. Demerit points remain on a player’s record for 24 months before being wiped clean.
