‘I made one change to my diet and it stopped bloating and stomach pain’

-

A woman has claimed she was always bloated and in pain until she made a single dietary change, which she insists “100% helped.” Gabby, who took to Instagram to share her experience, explained that her stomach pain, bloating and bowel movements improved significantly after she started eating raw ginger.

As a women’s fitness and health coach who frequently shares her experience and advice on social media, Gabby (@gabbycmfitness) uploaded a video detailing the benefits of adding ginger to your diet. Her clip was captioned: “I stared eating raw ginger every morning on an empty stomach and here’s what happened…”

Ginger may have numerous health benefits due to its anti-inflammatory, anti-nausea, and other properties. It may help you lose weight, manage arthritis, reduce menstrual symptoms, and more, according to Healthline. You can use ginger fresh, dried, powdered, or as an oil or juice.

In the caption, Gabby wrote: “As a girl who’s always struggled with stomach problems, always bloated, always in pain, never comfortable, I was recommended to try and eat raw ginger every morning.

“At first I thought no this is weird, but after a few days I got used to it. Here’s what happened:

1) improved bowel movement
2) reduced bloating
3) reduced stomach irritability
4) set me up for the day

“Now I’m not saying that ginger is the sole reason this has happened but it has 100% helped and I now do this every morning. Ginger has amazing benefits including:

“Maybe give it a try. You don’t just need to eat a whole chunk if you don’t want to. Grate it and add to smoothies, oats etc.”

There are a number of benefits to adding ginger into your diet, with properties such as gingerol being used for medicinal purposes to aid digestion, reduce nausea, and help fight the flu and common cold. Gingerol has powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects, according to research.

Ginger is also said to be effective against nausea. Ginger may help relieve nausea and vomiting for people undergoing certain types of surgery. While generally safe, it’s best to talk with a doctor before taking large amounts if you’re pregnant.

One 2019 review concluded that ginger supplementation significantly reduced body weight, the waist-hip ratio, and the hip ratio in people with overweight or obesity.

Some research suggests ginger may have anti-diabetic properties. A 2022 review found a significant reduction in fasting blood sugar and HbA1c in people with type 2 diabetes after taking ginger supplements.

Ginger may help manage indigestion by speeding up the passage of food through the stomach, helping to avoid symptoms such as abdominal pain, bloating, feeling too full, belching, and nausea.
