Hollyoaks’ Jorgie Porter eyeing soap return one month after giving birth

-

Jorgie Porter, known for playing Theresa McQueen on Hollyoaks, is already thinking about returning to the soap just weeks after giving birth.

The actress, who welcomed her second child, Peony, in December with fiancé Ollie Piotrowski, is currently on maternity leave. She and Ollie are also parents to a two-year-old son. Speaking to OK! Magazine, Jorgie shared her excitement about returning to work and hinted that she might even bring her newborn along.

Jorgie said: “I love working, I’ve been doing it from such a young age, and I did Hollyoaks and Dancing On Ice at the same time. Obviously it’s not as easy having a baby too, but maybe I’ll ask them if I can just bring Peony to the show and then ask the costume department if they can just hide her!”

Her character took a temporary exit over Christmas to allow Jorgie to go on maternity leave, departing the village alongside returning Nanna McQueen (Diane Langton).

Jorgie looked incredibly relaxed as she invited us into her Greater Manchester home to meet the family’s latest addition – their newborn baby daughter. “It’s all about teamwork,” laughed the Hollyoaks star, as we watched her fiancé Ollie Piotrowski expertly multitask around the house while carrying a very fast-asleep baby Peony Porter Piotrowski.

The family, which also includes their son Forest, two, and Ollie’s 10-year-old son, Alfie, who lives with them half of the time, have clearly adapted very well to the arrival of a new baby since they brought Peony home from hospital.

Jorgie previously shared with OK! that her pregnancy felt like it lasted “a hundred years.” “Honestly, it was the longest time,” she shared. “Margot Robbie had her baby about a week after she announced her pregnancy – I was pregnant for what felt like 100 years!

“The trouble was that my bump popped really early so I couldn’t hide it. By the end I’d wake up every day and think, ‘Yup, I’m still a whale, I’m not getting away from this.’ So it was harder this time, but I felt like I really should enjoy it more and milk it. So if I randomly wanted to lie down, I’d lie down, I just didn’t care what other people thought. I just wanted to enjoy it.”

Jorgie and her fiancé Ollie, who proposed to the actress at the Gleneagles Hotel in Scotland in 2021, clearly had a theme in mind when it comes to baby names – and Jorgie said she’s had Peony’s name squirrelled away for years and keeping it a secret wasn’t easy.

“We’d not heard of anyone with the name Peony and I love the flowers, they’re so beautiful,” she said. “But we were literally desperate to tell people her name before someone else had a baby and chose it before us! We didn’t give her a middle name because she’s Peony Porter Piotrowski which is already quite a lot for a kid to say, isn’t it?”

Now that her family is complete – Jorgie says they zero plans to have any more children – she’s already thinking about what might come next for her work-wise. She joined the cast of Hollyoaks aged just 20, but says she’s more “obsessed” with the show today than she’s ever been.
