It’s always good to kick off a new year with a bang, and nothing says drama much like The Traitors.
The hit BBC show returned for a third series on new year’s day, and it’s already got people making theories on social media. But, as well as bringing tension and excitement, it also brings with it Claudia Winkleman‘s quirky winter wardrobe.
From tweed to capes to cosy knits – she knows how to don stylish looks in the castle, and one of her staple accessories is her famous fingerless gloves. While you may think they’re an odd choice for a presenter, it turns out they actually pose a super handy function.
Speaking previously about her fashion choices on BBC Radio 2, Claudia said: “I want a fingerless glove and I want eye make-up that looks like I’ve slept in the skip. I tell you what I’ve always wanted to look like and, once I worked it out, I was like ‘I’m going with this’. I wanted to look like a male, mature French student. It’s true. Let’s call him Jean, right?”
The video has since been viewed more than 200,000 times – with various fans praising the presenter for being an “icon”. Many said they absolutely love her personality, and how it comes across in her clothes.
But, if you’ve ever wondered why you’d chose to wear fingerless gloves while filming in the Scottish Highlands, there may just be a clever reason. It turns out the accessories serve a purpose.
Fingerless gloves are actually designed to protect the hands and wrists, while allowing the fingers to be open for use. In other words, they work to keep the hands warm without limiting what the fingers can do.
This means you can also type or use a phone while wearing them. Maybe they keep Claudia’s hands toasty while also enabling her to get to work around the castle.
Obviously, they can just be used as a fashion accessory, but it’s normal to wonder what the purpose off fingerless gloves actually is when they’re meant to keep your hands warm. It turns out, they just free your fingers up a bit more.
