Cultural Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki has unveiled plans for an extensive commemoration to mark the 77th birthday of the renowned writer and filmmaker Humayun Ahmed on November 13. The celebration, part of the ‘Celebrating Bangladeshi Legends’ series by the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, is set to be grander and more elaborate than previous years, as disclosed by Farooki in a recent Facebook post.
“This year, on November 13, we will be honoring Humayun Ahmed with a larger-than-life tribute. The event will feature music, film screenings, and engaging discussions,” Farooki expressed in his post, adding a poetic touch by mentioning the absence of a full moon on the birthday but associating the day with a metaphorical “full moon of love.”
Highlighting Humayun Ahmed’s immense cultural impact, Farooki described him as one of the most influential cultural figures in Bangladesh since its independence. He encouraged fans of Humayun Ahmed to stay tuned to the Shilpakala Academy’s Facebook page for forthcoming details about the program, extending an open invitation to all to join in the celebrations and related activities.
