Google has enhanced its Gemini AI within Sheets to streamline complex, multi-step operations through a single command. As stated in an official Google blog post detailing the update, users no longer have to issue multiple commands to accomplish intricate tasks.
By way of illustration, a user can now instruct Gemini to “delete all previous archived rows, introduce a new ‘Team’ column featuring a dropdown menu, and then establish an ‘Updated Due Date’ column” – with Gemini comprehending and executing all these directives simultaneously.
This advancement enables users to conduct advanced data cleansing and formatting using plain language. Among the consolidated tasks Gemini can now perform are constructing a project tracker with formulas and dropdowns, or refining a sales report by purging outdated data and spotlighting top-performing entities, as per Google.
Furthermore, Google notes that the tool has acquired additional capabilities such as generating pivot tables, incorporating filters, and populating cells with formulas. The functionality is accessible to Google Workspace business and enterprise clients, as well as educational users utilizing the Google AI Pro add-on. Users can access Gemini in the side panel of Google Sheets.
