Germany is increasing its assistance to Bangladesh in transitioning to clean energy, with GIZ Bangladesh leading efforts in renewable energy, grid integration, energy efficiency, e-mobility, and green skills development, as discussed by speakers at an event today. The conference, titled “Innovations and Partnerships for Sustainable Energy Transition,” convened at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in Dhaka. Hosted by CEMS-Global in collaboration with GIZ Bangladesh, the gathering brought together development partners, policymakers, financial institutions, and private-sector leaders to explore ways to propel Bangladesh towards a low-carbon and energy-efficient future. The event coincided with the 27th Power Bangladesh International Expo 2025, the 22nd Solar Bangladesh International Expo 2025, and the 7th Dhaka International Lighting Expo 2025, collectively known as the 27th Power Series of Exhibitions, the country’s premier platform for showcasing power generation, renewable energy, and cutting-edge lighting solutions. The enduring partnership between Germany and Bangladesh was highlighted at the event, underscoring Germany’s steadfast backing for clean energy and climate resilience efforts. Through German development cooperation, GIZ Bangladesh is aiding in the expansion of renewable energy, enhanced grid integration, and improved energy efficiency in critical sectors. The collaboration also involves promoting e-mobility solutions for cleaner urban transportation and fostering essential green skills through enhanced technical and vocational education. This collaborative initiative signifies a mutual commitment to leveraging innovation, capacity building, and policy discussions to hasten Bangladesh’s transition towards a sustainable, inclusive, and climate-resilient energy landscape. The partnership not only aims to diminish reliance on fossil fuels but also to empower a skilled local workforce capable of spearheading the clean-energy revolution. The event featured four thematic sessions that highlighted key priorities in the green transition and brought together policymakers, development partners, and private-sector stakeholders to deliberate on emerging national agendas in sustainable energy development. The first session, “Green Cooling, Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency: Accelerating Bangladesh’s Low-Carbon Future,” emphasized the necessity for integrated measures to reduce emissions. Speakers spotlighted efficient cooling technologies, the expansion of renewable energy, and enhanced industrial energy management. The second session, “Fostering Synergy for Green Skills Development,” concentrated on preparing a proficient workforce for the green economy. Representatives from the World Bank, BRAC, and the ILO emphasized the significance of industry-aligned training programs.
