Fire at Mohakhali building


Eight firefighting units put out the flames within an hour

A fire broke out at a multi-story building in Dhaka’s Mohakhali on Sunday. 

Ershad Hossain, duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence control room, said the fire started on the seventh floor of the nine-story building around 2:50pm and spread soon.

The building named Haji Shahabuddin Complex in Rasulbagh area on Shaheed Tajuddin Road houses readymade garments factory MU Fashions on the three lower levels and the Universal Nursing College on the five upper levels. 

On information, eight firefighting units rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control around 3:55pm. 

No casualties were reported at the time. 

Fire Service Deputy Director Debashish Bardhan also confirmed that the fire had started on one of the upper levels. 

He also said that the building had no firefighting system or equipment.
