A young individual who sustained critical injuries during clashes between two rival gangs in Nabinagar upazila of Brahmanbaria passed away recently, bringing the total death toll from the incident to two. The deceased, identified as Yasin from Alamnagar village in Nabinagar municipality, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital while receiving treatment, as confirmed by his brother Shaheen. Shipon Mia, 30, also known as “Manek Dakat” and the son of Monnaf Mia from Thollakandi village, had previously lost his life on the night of the altercation. According to Shahinur Islam, the officer-in-charge of Nabinagar Police Station, the initial confrontation occurred near Gani Shah Mazar in Barikandi union at approximately 9:00 pm on Saturday. Shipon was conversing with companions when a group of armed individuals entered the scene, opened fire, and quickly fled. Shipon, along with two restaurant staff members, Yasin (20) and Nur Alam (18), sustained gunshot wounds during the incident. Local sources suggest a prolonged conflict between the two gangs regarding territorial control over criminal activities in the area.
