A man was fatally assaulted late last night in Cumilla’s Chandina upazila on suspicion of being involved in a robbery. The tragic event unfolded in Chandpur village within Barkoi union, as verified by Chandina Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Javed Ul Islam today. The victim, identified as Md Musha, aged 26 and hailing from Kaduti village, was at the center of the incident.
Reports from both the police and local community disclose that Moynal Hossain, a mobile phone vendor from Chandpur village, had been robbed of Tk 3.5 lakh and multiple mobile devices about ten days earlier. Subsequently, Moynal directed his suspicion towards Musha, particularly due to Musha’s unexplained absence from home since the day following the robbery.
Upon Musha’s return home last night, Moynal, accompanied by his associates, proceeded to Musha’s residence. From there, they escorted Musha to Chandpur village and subjected him to severe physical assault, resulting in his immediate demise. The assailants left the body at the scene before fleeing to evade capture.
Upon receiving the information, law enforcement recovered the body today. The OC mentioned that initial findings point towards Musha having a history of minor theft. His body has been transferred to Cumilla Medical College’s morgue for post-mortem examination, with plans underway to initiate legal proceedings regarding the incident.
“The search is ongoing to apprehend Moynal and the other individuals implicated in the incident,” the OC further emphasized.
