British singer Dua Lipa has reportedly ended her professional relationship with her agent following his involvement in a letter calling for the exclusion of pro-Palestinian Irish rap group Kneecap from the upcoming Glastonbury Festival. Before the festival in July, a group of artists and music industry insiders signed a private letter to festival founder Michael Eavis, urging him to remove the band. The leaked letter caused controversy within the music community, but Kneecap still performed at the event as scheduled.
One of the individuals who signed the letter was David Levy, Lipa’s agent from the WME talent agency. According to a report by the Mail on Sunday, a source in the music industry stated that Lipa chose to sever ties with Levy due to their differing stances on the Palestinian cause. The source revealed that Lipa perceived Levy as supporting Israel’s actions in Gaza and the treatment of Palestinians, as evidenced by the letter he endorsed and sent to Michael Eavis.
The 30-year-old singer has been a vocal supporter of Palestine for a long time. In a post on Instagram in May of the previous year, the artist, who hails from Kosovo, criticized what she referred to as “Israeli genocide” in Gaza.
