“Daren Sammy Criticizes Bangladeshi Fans’ Behavior”

-

West Indies head coach Daren Sammy expressed his dismay regarding the conduct of some Bangladeshi fans during the third and final T20I in Chattogram. Despite the visitors securing a 3-0 series victory, frustration mounted among the home supporters as Bangladesh fell short once more, succumbing to a five-wicket loss with 19 balls remaining while defending a total of 151.

Throughout the game, the crowd resorted to chanting “bhua, bhua” (“useless, useless”), singling out specific players by name as the team struggled on the field. Sammy, curious about the chant’s meaning, later discovered its derogatory nature and disapproved of the treatment towards the home players.

In a post-match interview with local media, the two-time T20 World Cup-winning captain voiced his concerns, stating, “I was displeased with how they criticized their own players. When you attend to support your home team, you should be a fan. Every player aims to perform well, and they deserve support. While the crowd wants their team to excel, offering more encouragement and backing can significantly boost morale. Instead of condemning the players, fans should show kindness.”

Bangladesh’s batting displays came under scrutiny throughout the series, with the hosts failing to achieve competitive scores in each match, resulting in consecutive losses. The incident underscored the unpredictable nature of local fan reactions, showcasing the rapid shift from admiration to frustration within the passionate cricket culture of the country.
