A mystery feud on Dancing On Ice was ignited on Sunday night as Ferne McCann’s fiance Lorri Haines and her mum Gilly seemed cold towards each other while seated in the audience.
The duo were positioned with Ferne’s daughter Sunday sandwiched between them during Sunday’s inaugural live show, but reportedly, they hardly exchanged words.
Ferne made her skating debut on Sunday, becoming emotional when she spotted her eldest daughter in the crowd alongside her mum and fiance. She performed a routine with her professional partner Brendyn Hatfield to Lily Allen’s track, Somewhere Only We Know.
However, it has been reported that behind the scenes, things were frosty between her beloved mum and her other half. An eye witness from the audience claimed that Lorri and Gilly appeared to be incredibly distant, signalling trouble.
“They didn’t seem very close at all. They both spoke to Sunday but barely exchanged a work to each other,” the source claimed. “It was very bizarre, and it was clear there was some tension in the air.” They added to The Sun that it was “no secret” that the couple had had their struggles recently, so it was unsurprising things appeared strained.
Ferne managed to complete her performance without any mishaps, earning commendation from the judges and a decent score of 26.5. She and Lorri are part of a blended family of five, each having a child from previous relationships, and together they share a baby girl, Finty, who is 17 months old.
Back in November, it was claimed that there was trouble in paradise between the pair as reports claimed that their love story had come to an end. However, Ferne took to Instagram at the time to set the record straight.
At the time, she insisted that the pair were very much still together – but admitted that things between them were not perfect due to parenting struggles and juggling their bust schedules. She said: “We haven’t [split] I am just as miffed. We are still very much together, living together, we are even back in the same bed.”
“I’ll tell what you what though, what we are not getting is sleep. The only reason why we would be arguing is because bless Finty she is waking up at 4am and I am one tired mumma, so if anyone has got any tips on that, it would be very much appreciated.”
In another show of unity, she handed over control of her business to Lorri and stepped away from her reality show, stating she wants to consider her children and “allow them to take their own path”.
However, Ferne has since confessed to OK! that she and Lorri have been experiencing a “rough patch”, but they’re staying resilient as a pair.
“We feel like we have to justify ourselves sometimes because, you know, every couple has their ups and downs.”
“I think this is my first proper relationship and we are juggling so much with businesses and raising our children together; we’re a blended family, with lots of different personalities,” she expressed.
“Don’t get me wrong, we’re not constantly upbeat and positive, but we’re very much together and doing life together. When you’ve got multiple children, it’s a lot. We’re both busy working and it’s like any household, it’s about the moving parts. Sometimes we can be like passing ships if he’s in the office and I’m working it can be tough.”
