Daily Dhaka Times: English newspaper the Daily Sun on Tuesday stepped into eighth year of publication with a new promise of bringing ‘innovation’ in news producing as well as courageous journalism.
The daily is celebrating its seventh anniversary with two-day programme and publishing special supplement. Its’ should be mentioned that the daily started its journey on October 24, 2010.
There is organized a get together programme for readers and well-wishers at Daily Sun head office in Bashundhara Residential Area in the capital on Tuesday.
Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu, Public Housing Minister Engr Mosharraf Hossain, Health State Minister Zahid Maleque, Indian High Commissioner Harsh Vardhan Shringla, National Human Rights Commision Chairman Kazi Reazul Hoque, Bangladesh Nationalist Party’ Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Joint Secretary General Barkatullah Bulu, veteran journalist and Samakal Editor Golam Sarwar, Bangladesh Pratidin Editor Naem Nizam, Nagarik Oikyo convenor Mahmudur Rahman Manna and Jatiya Press Club General Secretary Farida Yasmin and Daily Sun publisher Moynal Hossain Chowdhury , among others, came to Daily Sun office and whishes the newspaper team with flower baskets.
Addressing the function, Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu said, “Daily Sun has been proven its courageous journalism in last seven years of publication. From government part, we are supporting the constructive criticism betterment of democracy.
Minister also said the draft of ninth wedge board is prepared and will be announced soon.
Public Housing Minister Engr Mosharraf Hossain said,” The Daily Sun establishment is a special incident in newspaper industry in Bangladesh. The newspaper has been proven its stance for truth with courageous journalism and accuracy in reporting.
Unique feature of the celebration of instant anniversary is that President Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan have issued separate messages wishing the daily.
In a message, President Abdul Hamid said, “Media keep (s is absent) abreast of necessary information and enhances people’s awareness and knowledge. Newspapers create public opinion on issues relating to national interest.”
In her message, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said “I hope, the Daily Sun will continue its march forward and contribute more to a healthy development of the industry and fulfillment of people’s rights to information. I wish all out success of the Daily Sun,”.
Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan said the daily sun has completed seven years of its operation. The daily has reached all segments of English newspaper readers and earned repute by innovative content planning and offering information objectively.
Indian High Commissioner Harsha Bardhan Shringla said Daily Sun has been reflecting Bangladesh from last seven years to the readers. The newspaper is the first choice of mine to learn about Bangladesh.

Celebration of the founding anniversary began with cake-cutting on Monday evening. The daily owns company Bashundhara Group Vice-chairmen Safwan Sobhan and Shafiat Sobhan jointly inaugurated the celebration by cutting a giant cake in presence of Daily Sun Acting Editor Enamul Hoque Chowdhury.
Daily Sun Editor Enamul Hoque Chowdhury said the English newspaper has been achieved a position in readers mind producing news in accuracy in last seven years. We have also adopted the touch of technology in new producing.
