The Daily Star has introduced the first stage of PeopleDesk, a locally created digital human resource management system by AKIJ iBOS, as a significant advancement in the company’s digital evolution effort. The initiation follows a memorandum of understanding signed the previous year between The Daily Star and AKIJ iBOS to implement the HR solution. This initial phase concentrates on digitizing core HR data and establishing fundamental people management procedures. The system establishes a centralized HR database aimed at enhancing workforce administration, data precision, and internal process clarity. The execution is being carried out in stages to ensure alignment with operational readiness and sustainable integration of digital platforms.
The launch event was graced by senior executives from The Daily Star, including Mizanur Rahman FCA, Head of Operations & CFO; Jahurul Islam, Assistant General Manager-Accounts & Finance; Md. Mahmudul Hasan Khan, Head of HR & Admin; Md. Tanvir Ahamed Sarkar, Head of IT; Md. Nomanuzzaman, Manager-Finance & Accounts; Md. Istiak Ahmed Bappy, Assistant Manager-Administration; and Fahad Hossain, Senior Executive-Human Resources. Representatives from AKIJ iBOS in attendance were Md. Al-Amin, CMO and CRO; Md. Ikbal Hoshen, CTO; Md. Nazmul Haque Sabuj, AGM, Business Development; ARSM Nuray Alam Parash, Product Manager for PeopleDesk; and Shahinur Shamim, Business Analyst.
Md. Mahmudul Hasan Khan expressed that the initiative mirrors the company’s dedication to enhancing internal governance and operational effectiveness. “As an organization with a large and varied workforce, it is vital for us to embrace systems that uphold accuracy and long-term scalability in people management,” he highlighted.
Md. Ikbal Hoshen stressed the significance of harmonizing technology with organizational processes. “This phase establishes a robust groundwork for HR data and key people operations, which is crucial for any significant institution looking towards long-term digital evolution,” he added.
The development comes at a time when organizations in various sectors are increasingly prioritizing structured HRM systems to aid compliance and workforce oversight. Both entities underscored their commitment to stabilizing the system and gearing up for subsequent phases to fortify internal people management practices.
