Coronation Street villain Rob Donovan’s real plan ‘exposed’ in prison twist

-

There was quite a twist on Coronation Street on Monday night, as a hostage drama took over.

But not all was as it seemed, and by the end of the episode we were made aware of a shocking plan. Just days on from the return of killer Rob Donovan, Carla Connor’s brother, he was back in trouble.

Amid his son Bobby visiting him in prison, fellow inmate Matty Radcliffe, who was recently arrested over the murder of his brother Mason, lashed out. Matty branded a knife and threatened prison guard Mandy, as Bobby and Rob watched on terrified.

As Matty made his demands he then targeted Bobby, with Rob appearing to save the day by talking Matty down. That said, it soon became abundantly clear that troubled Rob could be back to his villainous ways.

He had orchestrated the whole thing, telling Matty to do it before acting the hero. He was shown praising Matty in his cell later on with Matty looking pretty terrified.

So, amid Rob offering to be a donor for sister Carla who needs a kidney transplant, what exactly is he plotting? He’s claimed to have found religion, turning to God while claiming to be a different person to the man who was sent to prison years earlier.

With Carla having refused contact with her brother, who killed Tina McIntyre on the show back in 2014, she made it clear how she felt about accepting his offer. But with Bobby sure his dad is a changed man, surely his latest stunt with Matty could prove otherwise.

So what’s the plan? Fans think they’ve cracked the case, believing Rob is up to something and has used Matty to get what he wants. With it known he staged the hostage situation no doubt to make him look the hero, will his loved ones buy it?

Some viewers believed it was bad news for Carla and her partner Lisa Swain and that they could face trouble. Another theory was that Rob was plotting a prison escape, and he was using Carla to do this.

One viewer said: “Sooo, Rob got Matty to hold them hostage in the visiting room then?! #corrie I dread what he’s got planned for #swarla.” Another said: “Carla gets the match with Rob, somehow they find the money. Rob goes in hospital BUT tries to escape, Lisa hears he’s AWOL finds him and [arrests] him.” A further theory read: “He’s playing the nice guy to get an early release plus all the found god stuff,” while a fourth commented: “Rob’s definitely plotting something.”
