CMP has already set up check-posts at every entry point of the port city

Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) has imposed restrictions on the movement of individuals and all types of transport in an attempt to curb the spread of coronavirus.

No individual or vehicles would be allowed to enter or leave the port city, except for emergency services.

CMP Commissioner Mahabubur Rahman issued the order on Monday evening.

Confirming the matter, CMP Additional Deputy Commissioner (public relations) Abu Bakar Siddique said that the order would come into effect from 10pm Monday and would remain effective until further notice.

“CMP has already set up check-posts at every entry point of the port city. Necessary legal steps will be taken against any violators of the order,” the police official said.

Meanwhile, the death toll from coronavirus rose to 12 in Bangladesh as the country confirmed three more deaths on Monday.

So far, 123 people have been infected in Bangladesh, 35 in the last 24 hours alone. Thirty-three patients have recovered from the virus.
