Later in the day, a case was filed against three people
A female clinic receptionist was allegedly drugged and raped by a physician of that same clinic in Sadar upazila of Satkhira.
The 17-year-old girl was reportedly kept confined at her workplace in Shimul Memorial Clinic and Diagnostic Centre since Wednesday, after she had reported the rape to the owner of the clinic.
Police on Friday afternoon rescued the girl, after a complaint was filed by her family as she had been missing for two days. Police detained Riazul Islam, a physician of the clinic, in this regard.
Later in the day, a case was filed against three people— Riazul Islam, the doctor at Satkhira Medical College Hospital, his accomplice Abdullah Al Mamun, 26, and clinic owner Mizanur Rahman Mithun, 36.
According to the case statement, on February 10, the girl joined Shimul Memorial Clinic and Diagnostic Centre as a receptionist. Since then, Riazul had been making romantic advances towards her and even proposed marriage. Soon they were in a relationship.
On Wednesday, Riazul gave her soft drinks spiked with sedatives with the help of his accomplice Mamun. When the girl fell unconscious, Riazul raped her on the fourth floor of the clinic.
When the girl told clinic owner Mithun about the incident, he offered her money to let the matter slide. They then confined the girl for two days at the clinic until she was rescued by police. She later filed a case against the three men.
Confirming the matter, Satkhira Sadar police station OC Mostafizur Rahman said: “After receiving a complaint about the missing girl, we rescued her from the clinic and arrested the suspected rapist on Friday afternoon.”
The girl has been admitted to Satkhira Sadar hospital for medical tests, he added.
He also said they were conducting drives to catch the other two accused.
