Chattogram district police apprehended six individuals in relation to the homicide of Abdul Hakim, a local businessman and BNP activist. The arrests took place during a police operation at Ayub Ali Sowdagar’s residence in the Chowdhuryhat area of Noapara, under Raozan Police Station’s jurisdiction, informed Additional Superintendent of Police (Detective Branch) Md Rasel. Law enforcement officers discovered five foreign-manufactured pistols, numerous rounds of ammunition, and a motorcycle suspected to have been utilized in the crime.
Following initial questioning, the suspects reportedly admitted their direct participation in the murder, as stated by the police official. The weapons seized were allegedly utilized in the fatal shooting of Hakim, who was attacked and killed near Madunaghat Bridge on October 8 in broad daylight. The perpetrators purportedly obstructed his private jeep before carrying out the shooting.
Abdul Hakim was recognized as a close ally of BNP leader Gias Kader Chowdhury. Prior to these latest detentions, four other individuals had been apprehended in connection with the case, bringing the total number of detainees to ten.
Initially, Hakim’s family filed a murder case with Hathazari Police Station against unidentified assailants. Authorities mentioned that more information would be revealed during a scheduled press conference later today.
