OpenAI recently announced that ChatGPT has surpassed 800 million weekly users, with its popularity largely driven by its rapid integration into workplaces. The latest data from OpenAI’s ‘The state of enterprise AI’ report reveals a substantial increase in professional utilization. Messages exchanged through the corporate edition, ChatGPT Enterprise, have surged by eight times in the past year. Businesses are transitioning from basic inquiries to structured workflows, with the adoption of customized AI projects soaring by 19-fold this year.
A survey involving 9,000 enterprise employees indicated that 75% believe that leveraging AI has boosted their efficiency or work quality, leading to time savings of 40 to 60 minutes per day on average, as outlined in OpenAI’s report. Notable benefits include expedited issue resolution within IT departments and accelerated code deployment among engineers. Moreover, three-quarters of users expressed the ability to undertake new tasks that were previously unattainable.
OpenAI highlighted the broad expansion of ChatGPT, with the most rapid acceptance observed in the technology, healthcare, and manufacturing domains. Corporate adoption is rapidly increasing in various countries, including Australia, Brazil, and France.
The report also underscores a growing disparity between top-performing and average companies. Entities and employees that extensively utilize AI are experiencing notably larger productivity enhancements. OpenAI emphasized in the report that the primary hurdle for organizations is no longer the technology itself, but their own preparedness and execution strategies.
